TERMS & CONDITIONS - SWEET STITCHES BY FAY
Last updated: 17/08/2026
1. ABOUT THESE TERMS
These terms apply to bookings for workshops, blocks, sessions and lessons ("sessions") made with Sweet Stitches by Fay, operated by [Fay Wilson], a sole trader based in Colchester, Essex ("we", "us"). By making a booking you agree to these terms. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
2. BOOKINGS AND PAYMENT
2.1 A booking is confirmed only when payment has been received in full. Places are limited and are held only once paid.
2.2 Prices are as shown on our website at the time of booking and include all materials and refreshments unless stated otherwise.
2.3 Block bookings (for example a three- or four-week children's block) are for the specific dates and time group shown at booking. A child attends the same time group for the whole block.
2.4 Bookings are personal to you and may not be resold. If you would like to transfer a place to someone else, please ask - we will help where we reasonably can.
3. WHO SESSIONS ARE FOR
3.1 Children's sessions are for ages 7-16. Adult sessions are for ages 18+ unless we agree otherwise.
3.2 Sessions are suitable for the experience level described on the booking page (for example "beginner" or "returners"). If you are unsure which is right for you, contact us before booking.
4. YOUR CANCELLATION RIGHTS WHEN BOOKING ONLINE
4.1 Because our sessions are leisure services provided on a specific date or dates, the usual 14-day "cooling-off" cancellation right for online purchases does not apply, in line with regulation 28(1)(h) of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
4.2 This does not affect your rights where we cancel or fail to provide the service - see sections 5 and 6.
5. CANCELLATIONS BY YOU, AND REFUNDS
5.1 As a small, one-person business holding a limited number of places, we are unable to offer refunds once a booking is confirmed.
5.2 If you cannot attend, please tell us as early as possible. Although we are not obliged to, we will always try to help where we reasonably can - for example by offering a place in a future session or, for children's blocks, helping with a catch-up where practical. Goodwill of this kind does not create an obligation for future bookings.
5.3 If you miss a session within a block, missed sessions are not refundable and cannot reduce the block price.
6. CANCELLATIONS BY US
6.1 Occasionally we may need to cancel or reschedule a session, for example due to illness or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
6.2 If we cancel a session, you may choose either a full refund for that session (or a pro-rata refund for the affected part of a block) or a transfer to an alternative date. This is in addition to your statutory rights.
7. CHILDREN'S SESSIONS - PARENTS AND GUARDIANS
7.1 Bookings for under-18s must be made by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided, including allergy, medical and additional-needs information.
7.2 Children must be dropped off and collected promptly by a responsible adult. Please tell us in advance who will collect your child.
7.3 We reserve the right to ask that a child is collected early if their behaviour puts themselves, other children or the calm running of a session at risk. No refund is due in these circumstances, though we will always talk with you first wherever possible.
8. MATERIALS, PATTERNS AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
8.1 Materials provided during sessions are for use in the session; take-home items are described on the booking page. Optional starter packs are available to buy.
8.2 Printed patterns and guides provided at or after sessions, and any purchased digital patterns, are for your personal, non-commercial use. They may not be copied, shared, resold or used to produce items for sale without our written permission.
9. OUR LIABILITY
9.1 Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
9.2 Subject to 9.1, we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable to both parties when the booking was made, and our total liability in connection with any booking is limited to the amount paid for that booking.
9.3 Crochet involves hooks, scissors and small items. Participants (and parents, for children) should follow reasonable instructions given during sessions. Please dress for a hands-on craft session.
10. DISCOUNT CODES AND OFFERS
10.1 Discount codes are single-use unless stated otherwise, cannot be exchanged for cash, cannot be combined with other offers, and apply only to the services stated. We may withdraw or amend offers at any time (without affecting bookings already made).
11. PHOTOGRAPHY
We only photograph participants, or share photographs of participants, with consent given at booking or in writing. You may withdraw consent at any time.
12. PRIVATE GROUPS, PARTIES AND SCHOOLS
Private group sessions, birthday parties and school clubs are arranged by enquiry, and may be subject to additional written terms provided with the quote or booking confirmation. Where those terms differ from these, the additional terms apply.
13. GENERAL
13.1 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
13.2 If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
13.3 We may update these terms from time to time; the version in force when you book applies to your booking.
